This Geniune 'Ballycastle Glass' Pendant is at least 270 years old and a little piece of North Coast history. It features a unique sea tossed gem - a piece of Ballycastle Glass - that can only be found on Ballycastle Beach, Co. Antrim.
These Ballycastle Glass gems are remnants of the glass production that went on at 'Ballycastle Glass House Company', built in 1755 by Hugh Boyd. The factory produced green bottles, window glass and plate glass on what is now known as 'Glass Island' on the shore of Ballycastle for a brief 30 year period before closing down, partly due to cheaper production becoming available elsewhere.
Panes of 'Ballycastle Glass' can still be found in a few of the older buildings in the area and these little gem-like blue/green glass pieces, although becoming more and more rare, can still to be found on the beach.
This is a one of a kind Ballycastle Glass Pendant and each pendant is completely unique - no two are the same. It is finished with a 20" silver plated chain.
This necklace comes presented in a gift box. Local collection/delivery is possible - please select your preferance at checkout.
